Level 4 NVQ Qualification
Leading to Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC)
Suitable for:
All employees working within the waste management industry who have a responsibility for the management of sites licensed by the Enviromental Agency.
Method of Delivery:
Practical assessment of Candidates on-site competence, as observed by a qualified and experienced QSP Training Assessor. Guidance in the production of a portfolio of evidence.
Recognition:
Upon successful completion of this qualification. Candidates are presented with a Nationally recognised NVQ Certificate of Achievement, together with a Certificate of Technical Competence from WAMITAB, recognising their ability to mange licensed facilities in the award category.

    Landfill:
    The units below may vary slighty according to site category.

    Mandatory Unit - Candidates must be competent in the following:

  • Monitor procedures to control risks to Health & Safety.
  • Control maintenance and other engineering operations.
  • Control improvements to waste managment operations.
  • Ensure protection of the enviroment on landfill sites.
  • Support the efficient use of resources.
  • Create use of resources.
  • Provide information to support decision making on a waste management site.

    In addition candidates will also have to choose 4 optional units from an accredited list according to site category.

  • Control the movement, sorting and storage of wastes.
  • Monitor procedures to control risks to Health & Safety.
  • Control improvements and other engineering operations.
  • Control improvements to waste management operations.
  • Support the efficient use of resources.
  • Create effective use of recources.
  • Provide information to support decision making on a waste management site.

    In addtition candidates will also have to choose 4 optional units from an accredited list according to site category.
  • Incineration:
    Mandatory Units - Candidates must be competent in the following:

  • Control the reception of hazardous wastes.
  • Control the movements, sorting and storage of hazardous wastes.
  • Monitor Procedures to control risks to health and safety
  • Control site operations on a waste incineration facility.
  • Control maintenance and other engineering operations.
  • Control the disposal of outputs and residues from waste incineration operations.
  • Control improvements to waste management operations
  • Ensure protection of the environment on hazardous waste treatment or transfer sites.
  • Support the efficient use of resources.
  • Provide information to support decision making on a waste management site.

    In addition candidates will also have to choose 1 optional unit from an accredited list according to site category.
