CIWM Waste Smart
CIWM have rebranded the old Waste Awareness Course and rebranded to WASTE Smart. Whether you are responsible for producing waste, handling and managing it or responsible for influencing the management of waste as a resource, you will understand that there are different levels of knowledge required.
The new WASTE Smart training has two levels Foundation and Advanced level. The two levels mean that employees can attend the course that is appropriate to their needs and job requirements.
Waste Smart Foundation Level: Targeted at generators of waste and those who handle or manage waste with the aim of teaching an understanding of why and how waste should be managed sustainably and what steps they can take to improve performance.
Waste Smart Advanced Level: Targeted at those who need to implement, manage and monitor improvements in waste and resource management. The certificate also gives delegates the opportunity to build skills as well as knowledge through practical exercises during the training. These exercises cover reducing waste, saving money and resources whilst also improving compliance.
Assessment
An appropriate assessment has been created for each Waste Smart level.
Waste Smart Foundation Level: The Foundation Level retains the multiple choice assessment to allow delegates to demonstrate awareness of best practices and the how's and why's have been understood.
Waste Smart Advanced Level: The Advanced Level now makes use of exercises to evaluate waste audit data and identify recommendations for improvements.
On completion of the course you will be issued with a certificate which is valid for five years.
