How much will it cost?
This will depend on the level of award that you are wishing to achieve. Costs vary according to the qualification and for organisations, the number of candidates identified for assessment and training.
How is it delivered?
Practical assessment of candidates, on site competence observed by a qualified and experienced Assessor.

Practical workshops either on site or central location training courses.

  • How long will it take?
    Depends on the award and the time and effort the candidate can put in. Completion time will vary from 3 months for non statutory awards upto 2 years for the statutory awards.

    Practical workshops will normally be one day duration but in some cases spread over a period of weeks.
    What is an NVQ?
    National Vocational Qualifications are work based qualifications designed to assess and recognise the capabilities of skill based activities.

    The award is consistent and based on standards set by industry experts and is recognised nationally.

    They are accessible to anyone who can do the identified job.
    Who awards a NVQ?
    NVQs are awarded by approved Awarding Bodies who are familiar with vocational qualifications. These bodies will give approval to locally based Training Providers who will undertake the administration and assessment of specific qualifications.
    Why do l need one?
    They are the only qualification that relate to the requirements of a specific job and provide the opportunity to measure the skills and knowledge gained from job experience.
    How are they audited?
    Awarding Bodies appoint an External Verifier for each approved Training Provider who is responsible for ensuring the standards are maintained.

    The approved Training Provider will appoint an Internal Verifier who acts as an Internal Quality Manager overseeing the administration and assessment of the qualification.
