QSP Training – CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 3 Award in Health and Safety Supervision for the Resource and Waste Management Sector

The CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 3 Award in Health and Safety Supervision is designed specifically for supervisors and managers working within the resource and waste management sector. This qualification provides a solid understanding of health and safety legislation, leadership, and behavioural safety — giving learners the skills and confidence to create safer working environments for themselves and others.

The waste and resource management industry is one of the most high-risk sectors in the UK. This qualification focuses on developing proactive health and safety leadership, effective communication, and positive workplace behaviours to help reduce accidents and improve safety culture across sites.

Learners will explore key topics including current legislation, risk assessment, behavioural safety, and performance monitoring. The qualification also provides a framework for effective supervision and safety management that supports better health and safety performance both on-site and in non-operational settings.

Who is this Qualification for?

This qualification is suitable for:

New entrants to the waste and resource management industry

Team leaders and supervisors

Trainee operations managers

Experienced workers seeking a formal qualification in health and safety supervision

It is particularly suited to individuals who already have day-to-day responsibility for staff or site operations and wish to strengthen their leadership and compliance skills.

Entry Requirements

This qualification is open entry, meaning there are no formal prerequisites or prior qualifications required. Learners simply need an interest in improving workplace safety and a role or opportunity to apply their learning within a waste or resource management environment.

How is this Award Conducted?

The CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 3 Award in Health and Safety Supervision is assessed through a combination of a multiple-choice examination and a project assignment that allows learners to demonstrate their knowledge and its practical application in a waste and resource management setting.

Training and assessment take place over a three-day period, either at QSP Training’s centre in Redditch or delivered directly on site at your company premises for group bookings.

All assessments are carried out by qualified QSP assessors approved by CIWM (WAMITAB), ensuring that learners receive consistent, professional support throughout their qualification journey.
