QSP Training – Trusted Experts in Joint CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 High Risk Award and City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice

About this Dual Qualification

QSP Training is an accredited CIWM (WAMITAB) and City & Guilds assessment centre, allowing us to deliver a wide range of Waste Management and Health and Safety qualifications. We are one of only a few approved centres in the UK authorised to offer both awards together as a combined pathway — providing an efficient route to achieving two highly respected qualifications in one programme.

This unique dual qualification enables learners to gain a CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 High Risk Operator Competence Certificate alongside the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice. Together, these qualifications demonstrate both technical competence in managing high-risk waste operations and advanced expertise in occupational health and safety management.

Who is this Qualification for?

This programme is designed for professionals working in high-risk waste and environmental sectors who are responsible for ensuring operational safety and compliance at permitted sites. It is particularly suitable for those involved in activities such as:

Hazardous waste management

Landfill and clinical waste operations

Transfer, treatment, or recovery of complex waste streams

Environmental and industrial cleaning operations

It is ideal for staff members, supervisors, and managers who oversee daily health and safety procedures and wish to enhance both their technical and managerial capability.

Learners will gain the competence required to hold a High Risk Operator Competence Certificate while also achieving a recognised City & Guilds Level 5 qualification that demonstrates their ability to manage and improve health and safety performance across an organisation.

How is this Qualification Delivered?

Assessment is carried out in the workplace by a Joint Awarding Body-approved assessor, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations. Learners are assessed on real activities and evidence from their own site, eliminating the need for lengthy classroom-based study.

By undertaking both awards together, candidates save considerable time, as much of the required evidence applies to both qualifications. Learners build a single, comprehensive portfolio of evidence that demonstrates compliance with both WAMITAB and City & Guilds standards.

Assessment includes observation, professional discussion, documentation review, and reflective evidence. Each learner receives structured guidance from an experienced QSP assessor throughout the process.

What Will I Gain?

Upon successful completion, learners achieve two nationally recognised qualifications:

CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Diploma/CoTC – High Risk Operator Competence Certificate for the relevant facility type

City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice

In addition, learners retain their portfolio of evidence as a record of achievement, which can be used to support future progression, professional recognition, and compliance documentation.
